Spread Betting Understanding |
Spread Betting is used for the kinds of sports where
there are
sure favorites that can hardly lose. Actually spread betting is
different a money line. The latter requires a bettor to predict what
team is more likely to win than the other one. But when spread
betting gamblers believe that the team they bet on will win.
What
is more, a player even puts a wager on a score of a match.
It was a teacher from Connecticut who invented spread betting in the
1940s and later became a famous bookmaker in Illinois. Some forty years
later spread betting was brought to the UK.
In North America it is typical to bet on the difference of scores. So
let's say that the betting line for a certain match is 4.5. If a player
makes a bet on the priori of the match, the favorite will win
when
scoring 4.5 points more than the underdog. In case
you make a
wager on an underdog, you will win when points scored by the team plus
a spread betting that is 4.5 exceeds the goals scored by the
favorite.
When a player lays a bet on that a goal will be scored late in a match
between Roma and Manchester United you will set a spread of
fixed
minutes, e. g. 35-40 min.
Another interesting thing is worth attention. When winning a bettor
will receive a sum equal to his initial wager, but when losing he will
have to add 10% of his wager as a vig.
You will hardly find a spread bet with no fraction. A decimal used with
the purpose to avoid pushes or ties. Usually it's basketball and football betting
that uses spread bets or point spreads, but the kinds of sports apply a
money line also.
For gambling spread betting adds adrenalin and thrill to the final
second of a game. Don't forget to say abracadabra when doing your magic
trick of spread betting!>
